New Software Helps Women “Pick the Perfect Makeup”

Do you spend hours in the mirror trying to perfect your makeup? New software soon to be released aims to help with that. The new beauty technology, which was recently showcased at CeBIT – the world’s biggest high-tech fair, takes a 3D image of your face and measures your complexion, shadows, and lines.

The software uses the scan to compare your face to 60 pre-programmed models and advise you of how much makeup should be applied to particular parts of your face based on the professional make-overs conducted on your model match. The software is also designed to tell women which tried-and-tested makeup combinations will be right for their faces.

The professional makeover software concept was developed by Kristina Scherbaum at the prestigious Max Planck Institute, while the user interface was designed by Himangsho Saikia. Although the software is still in its research stages, the pair hopes to release the software sometime in the near future for both personal and commercial use.

Permanent makeup or cosmetic tattooing is another tried and true way to get the perfect makeup every day – no facial scans or self application required! Professional permanent makeup artist Melany Whitney uses her professional eye and years of experience to apply eye and lip makeup in just the right shade and amount – an added advantage…you won’t ever have to apply it daily.

The Many Uses of Permanent Makeup

Permanent makeup or cosmetics can be great for making eyes appear larger by way of permanent eyeliner, a use many women know of, but did you know that permanent makeup can be used for a great variety of other reasons?

Permanent Makeup for Lips:

Permanent makeup can be used to create a subtle contour to the lips and can even be used to add color to the lips to bring back their youthful glow or to give the youthful glow they might have never had.

Permanent Makeup for Eyes:

Permanent makeup can not only enhance the eyes with eyeliner that lasts forever, but can also give you the perfectly shaped brows you’ve always hoped for…permanently!  You can also enhance the color of your eyelids with a light shadowy look, keeping you always looking polished and ready to go.

Permanent Makeup for Skin:

Did you know permanent makeup can actually camouflage hypopigmented areas of the skin?  This makes it a great solution for disguising certain scars or spots due to vitiligo.  Permanent makeup can even help to restore the natural look of skin in the nipple or breast areola area after mastectomy.

Permanent makeup or cosmetic tattooing has been improving the lives of women and men since the 1930’s.  Find out how permanent makeup can help to improve your life by contacting New Jersey and New York’s foremost expert on permanent makeup today!

What Makes American Idol’s Steven Tyler Look So Young?

Want to know what makes Steven Tyler look so young? Ask his cosmetologist. The Aerosmith frontman and popular American Idol judge is upfront about his use of makeup to maintain his youthful good looks. Tyler, who will celebrate his 63rd birthday on March 26, was recently seen at a Los Angeles spa indulging in a rejuvenating facial and full makeup application. He also reportedly received permanent eyelash extensions.

Rock stars and metrosexuals aren’t the only ones tuning into the benefits of makeup for men, euphemistically referred to as “skin care products” to protect the male machismo. A decade ago, men spent just under $41 million on grooming products. By last year that figure had jumped to $217. In the first two quarters of 2010, sales of L’Oreal’s men’s skin care products increased by 30%. Over the past three years, devotees of Menaji male grooming products, like country star Tim McGraw, have boosted sales of the macho skin care line by 70%.

Men who value discretion are discovering the benefits of permanent cosmetics for men. Unlike regular makeup that can wear off or leave embarrassing telltale smears on shirt collars, permanent makeup pigments are tattooed directly into the skin where they become an indelible and indistinguishable part of your natural appearance. When you wear permanent makeup for men, no one knows your secret; they just know you look great!

Stop Wasting Money on Pricey Cosmetics; Choose Permanent Makeup

Have you ever added up what you spend on cosmetics in a year? At $20 to $50 dollars per item, the amount of money the average woman spends on high-quality brand name and celebrity cosmetics annually can be staggering, particularly when you consider that you’re only getting a few ounces of product every time you hand over your credit card.

Unfortunately, a cosmetics purchase is not a one-time expense. You, naturally, expect to periodically replenish favorite products as you use them up; but for health reasons, many cosmetics will have to be replaced several times a year, even if they’ve barely been used. Eyeliners and mascaras, in particular, can be breeding grounds for bacteria and should be replaced every 3 months to prevent harmful eye infections.

Tired of shelling out hundreds of dollars a year for cosmetics, a growing number of women are choosing permanent makeup. A specialized form of cosmetic tattooing, permanent makeup won’t run, smear or come off on your clothing. No more getting up early to put your face on. No more quick touch-ups before you meet an important client or go out to dinner. No more bland, blank face when you wake up in the morning. With permanent makeup your face looks expertly made up 24/7 and you never have to lift a finger!

Permanent Eyebrows Help Chemotherapy Patients Regain Self-Esteem

When popular British actress Sally Whitaker felt she was losing herself during her battle with breast cancer, permanent makeup came to her rescue and restored her sense of personal beauty.

Fantasy became all too harsh reality when British actress Sally Whitaker was diagnosed with breast cancer at the same time that her character in the hit primetime British soap opera Coronation Street was also battling the disease. In fact, Sally credits the experiences of her onstage persona with prompting her to do the self-exam that discovered the lump in her breast. As her on-screen character moved from initial cancer discovery into treatment, Sally was motivated to monitor her own health. Finding a lump in her breast and discovering that it was cancerous created an eerie feeling of deja vu as her real life experiences began to mirror those of her on-screen character. Sally’s personal battle with cancer gave tragic poignancy to her character’s on-screen fight with the disease.

During chemotherapy, Sally lost all of her hair, including her eyebrows. While she could cover her bald head with cute caps and scarves, the loss of her eyebrows made her feel extremely uncomfortable about her appearance. Without eyebrows she felt her face looked robotic and unattractive and she began to feel her self-confidence eroding. Permanent eyebrows applied by a skilled permanent makeup artist rescued Sally’s self-esteem and made her feel attractive and feminine again.

Permanent Makeup Isn’t Just for Women; Men Benefit Too

As competition heats up on the job market, more men are turning to permanent makeup to keep their competitive edge and maintain their grip on the corporate ladder. A few facial lines or a touch of gray may connote desirable experience, but looking old won’t earn you any votes in the board room. Corporations want their executives to look commanding, energetic and virile. Permanent makeup for men can enhance your most attractive features and make weak features more commanding, allowing you to maintain your competitive edge.

Permanent makeup is a type of cosmetic tattooing known medically as micropigmentation. The application of permanent makeup involves the tattooing of iron oxide cosmetic pigments into the dermal layer of the skin. A highly skilled permanent makeup artist like Melany Whitney can use permanent makeup to:

  • Camouflage facial scars and scars from injuries, facelifts or hair transplants.
  • Redraw uneven lip lines so they appear more symmetrical.
  • Redefine the color and definition of facial areas affected by cleft palate surgery so they look more pleasing and natural.
  • Fill in unsightly bald patches and hair loss caused by male pattern baldness.
  • Thicken and redefine eyebrows using Melany’s unique, natural-looking, feather-stroke technique.
  • Enhance eyelashes to rejuvenate and highlight the eyes.

Permanent cosmetics for men can rejuvenate your appearance and help you recapture your competitive edge.

Cosmetic Tattooing Can Erase Damage Caused by Facial Scars

Facial scars leave their mark not only on the skin but on the soul. There is something about our face that more than any other part of our body determines our comfort with ourselves. Perhaps it’s that our face is the window through which others see us. Most see only the reflection in the glass; few come close enough to peer past the surface into the soul. With no knowledge of our depths, we are judged by our face.

Facial scars can be damaging to our sense of self. Even a small scar from a childhood injury or teenaged acne can undermine our self confidence and make us feel ugly when we gaze in the mirror. I know a young woman who had thyroid cancer surgery. Despite understanding the necessity, she was so devastated and embarrassed by the thin scar that slit across her throat that it destroyed the way she saw herself. It did not matter that others saw only a minor imperfection; she saw a monstrosity. For years she wore turtlenecks and multi-strand chokers until she was finally able to come to terms with her appearance.

Cosmetic tattooing performed by an artistically accomplished paramedical tattoo artist like Melany Whitney can permanently hide facial scars and restore your confidence in your natural beauty. Prominent plastic surgeons nationwide frequently refer their patients to Melany to remove the embarrassment of unsightly scars or natural skin imperfections. There is no need to suffer. Cosmetic tattooing can restore your natural beauty.

How Did Permanent Makeup Evolve?

Permanent makeup evolved from the time-honored art of tattooing. From the time of early man, tattoos have been used to beautify the human form. The art of tattooing dates back at least to 12,000 B.C. References to tattooing can be found in ancient Chinese literature and the writings of Julius Caesar. Tattoos decorate the mummies of Neolithic cavemen and Egyptian queens.

Tattoos have a long tradition in human ritual and culture. Northern European clans used tattoos to identify clan affiliation. In Polynesia, they were used to indicate social status. Natives in Borneo used tattoos to advertise their weaving or hunting skills when seeking a mate. The early Chinese believed tattoos could ward off illness.

Our English word “tattoo” comes from the Tahitian “tatau” meaning “to mark or strike twice,” referring to the traditional method of applying tattoos with sharpened sticks. The earliest recorded purely cosmetic tattoos date to the time of the great pyramids where they were used to enhance the beauty of Egyptian queens and concubines.

Taking a page from the beauty secrets of those ancient Egyptians, modern women have embraced natural, beauty-enhancing permanent cosmetics as a way to ensure that they always look their best. Permanent makeup uses artistic cosmetic tattooing to enhance and augment your natural beauty. It can also be used to improve your natural features to restore confidence in your appearance. With permanent makeup you can have perfectly applied eye liner, beautifully defined brows, and lush, full lips every hour of every day — without any effort. Permanent Cosmetics for Men Hone Business Image

You don’t have to be a metrosexual to understand the value of a sharp, attractive appearance in the business arena. Astute businessmen know that first impressions count. The way you look is an important component of the image you project in the business world. Permanent cosmetics for men give you an executive polish that boosts your image and confidence. With the help of permanent cosmetics, you look cool, collected and in charge no matter how long and stressful your day. That’s a business edge worth having.

The Whitney Center for Permanent Cosmetics offers special services tailored just to men. We understand the importance of maintaining a polished, vigorous appearance in the workplace. There’s a lot of truth to the old adage, “The face is the window to the soul.” The appearance you project in business defines you to associates and clients. Appearance has the power to create an aura of command and competence. Permanent cosmetics for men can enhance your appearance and augment your unique, personal style.

Many businessmen have found early male pattern baldness to be a disadvantage in the workplace. Our society values the vigor and enthusiasm of youth. The appearance of age can cause colleagues to unfairly stereotype you as outdated. Many men have embraced hair transplants as a way to combat early baldness and maintain an appearance as flexible and vigorous as their business ideals. Unsightly scarring, however, has been a major drawback. Paramedical cosmetic tattooing camouflages scars from hair transplant harvesting sites, giving you back the attractive, natural look of youth.

Eyebrow thickening provides vigor and forcefulness to facial planes, enhancing your unique, dynamic, personal style. Some men are born with naturally thin eyebrows, but Alopecia Areata Universalis, the second most common hair loss disease, can cause thick brows to thin unnaturally or even disappear. Because our eyebrows provide the frame that defines our face, they are an essential element in creating facial expressions. Thin eyebrows can make us seem ineffectual, unintelligent and constantly surprised; while strong eyebrows project a sense of command, authority and masculinity. How you look can affect the consideration and weight you and your ideas are given in the workplace.

Restoring Breast Beauty to Cancer Survivors

While we may chide men for their sometimes obsessive interest, our breasts are among the features that make us uniquely female. Losing a breast to cancer, while sometimes necessary, can be a very traumatic experience. For the sake of their health, some women must choose to sacrifice a piece of their femininity. Melany Whitney’s unique three-dimensional cosmetic tattooing allows these courageous women to regain breast beauty.

Many were shocked when 36-year-old actress Christina Applegate, whose mother is a repeat breast cancer survivor, made the difficult decision to have both breasts removed after being diagnosed with breast cancer and finding she carried the BRCA1 breast cancer gene. Even though cancer was found in only one breast, the beautiful star of ABC TV’s hit comedy Samantha Who chose to have both breasts removed to ensure complete elimination of the cancer and minimize its chance of returning. It can’t have been an easy decision for a woman at the height of her career.

Losing her breasts has been emotionally traumatic, Ms. Applegate admitted. “Sometimes, you know, I cry. And sometimes I scream. And I get really angry,” she said. But the actress considers her anguish “all part of the healing.” Over the next eight months, Ms. Applegate will be undergoing breast reconstruction surgery.  “I’m going to have cute boobs till I’m 90,” joked the irrepressible actress.

Restoring breast beauty after cancer loss to help survivors recapture self-confidence in their femininity has been particularly satisfying to Board Certified permanent cosmetics technician Melany Whitney. To restore natural beauty to reconstructed breasts, she has developed a unique cosmetic tattooing procedure that recreates the realistic three-dimensional appearance of a natural nipple and areola. “When my client cries after seeing herself looking whole again, I cry also,” she said. “I am so thrilled I can help each woman regain what she lost and move forward with their lives.”
