Applying Liquid Eyeliner Tips

To apply liquid eyeliner, you’ll usually want to line the eye along the lash line in one big sweep. When going for accuracy, one alternative application method is to start at the middle of the lash line and line outwards, then go back to finish the line from the inner corner of the eye to the middle. When using liquid liner for a dramatic “cat’s eye” look, just line from the middle of the lash line and a bit further than the natural outer corner of the eye.

To apply eyeliner with a pencil, first make sure you have the eyeliner pencil sharpened to a decent point. Then, line as close to the lash line as possible along the entire top of the eye. With pencil eyeliner, lining the lash line at the bottom of the eye is possible, but optional.

Many women are unsure of what type of eyeliner to commit to on a daily basis. Common pencil eyeliners are somewhat easy to use, but tend to melt into the skin or rub off and usually don’t stay put all day. Liquid eyeliners often stay put a little longer than pencil eyeliners, but can be tough to apply on a daily basis, and sometimes look a little harsh. This is especially true on fair skin tones.

If you’re looking for a way to save time, you’ll definitely want to consider permanent eyeliner. Permanent eyeliner is the perfect alternative to daily use of liquid or pencil eyeliner.

What Eye Color Shades Work for My Eye Color?

Last Tuesday on our permanent make-up blog, we discussed some basic eye make up tips.  It is important to find out what eye color is right for you by deciding whether or not you want to go for the subtle natural look, or if you’d instead like your eyes to really “pop” and be highlighted.  Check out the following tips for highlighting your eyes.

Brown Eyes

If you have brown eyes, you have a large selection of shades to choose from.  To make brown eyes pop, choose an indigo blue eye liner or a plum purple.  This can really bring out the varied tones in the iris.  Remember, you can always go for greens, champagnes, bronzes, or golds if you want to go for a natural look.  Black eyeliner always works too, but can create a harsh look on fair skin tones.

Blue Eyes

If you want to make blue eyes pop, you might want to try a “burnt orange” shade or a brownish-orange.  Contrary to popular belief, blue eyeliners and shadow won’t usually make blue eyes look bluer.  Instead, warm colors tend to contrast the coolness of blue eyes, making them really stand out.

Green Eyes

If you have green eyes, a subtle red undertone can really bring them out.  Browns and beiges look great with green eyes as well.  Purples and pinks can really make them dramatic.  Green eyes really tend to pop on their own also, so experiment to find what look is right for you.

Hazel Eyes

To compliment your beautiful hazel eyes, you can enjoy a wide spectrum of shadows and eyeliners.  The one thing to avoid is too much of a blue hued liner or shadow.  It can dull down hazel eyes.  Gold, pinks, lavender, and mochas work great.

No matter what your eye color, remember to have fun, express yourself and go for the look that is most you.  For an expert consultation or to apply your eyeliner permanently, you can consult with expert make up artist Melany Witney!

Guyliner? Or Permanent Make-up?

Seriously. Has anyone ever seen Billy Joe Armstrong or any other members of Green Day without their guyliner? Do you think when these guys and other hot pop/rock stars rise and shine every morning at the crack of noon that they head into their bathrooms with a fistful of eyeliner pencils and brushes?  That they loom up against their mirrors and try to draw lines around their eyelids?  I think not.

We’re talking about high power glam guys like Trent Reznor and Travis Barker – the kind of guys who are so covered with tattoos that they could be Google maps. Do you think they’d draw the line – pun intended – at getting permanent eyeliner tattooed on their lids?  You tell me.

But before you do, take a look at these great guyliner photos we found on the TMZ. See whether you can match the guylinered eyes with the superstar guy!

Once the exclusive territory of of only homosexuals, punk rockers and showmen, well-applied guyliner is slowly but surely becoming more socially acceptable for heterosexual men who ascribe to metrosexualism, glamour, and general fabulousness.

Guyliner by according to a fashionista we know, is the hottest look for a guy right now.  ”Emo guys wear guyliner, emo guys are hot, therefore, if you wear guyliner, you will be hot,” she says. Even cougars get a bit weak in the knees over that Johnny Depp as Captain Jack Sparrow look.
But don’t let the guys steal the show.  Power up your appearance 24/7 with permanent eyeliner!

Runway Beauty Trends

We read that at the recent Roberto Cavalli fashion show a dark smoky cat eye with a 60s style mane of hair was the new hot runway look in beauty.

Both hairstylist Guido Palau and makeup artist Pat McGrath cited Brigitte Bardot as their inspiration for this super-sexy look. Jennifer Lopez  comes to mind as another icon of this look. To achieve the dramatic eye, McGrath applied dark liner around the entire eye, as well as in the crease and inside the lower lash line, blending slightly for definition. The liner was then topped with eye shadow in a black hue and lashes were coated with major mascara.

It’s power-house glam with a lot of drama. Perfect for a special night when you want to amp up your volume. Why not get a head-start by having a base coat of permanent eye-liner all ready applied to both your upper and lower eye-lids?  You’ll save precious time when you’re in prep mode for getting ready.  Plus there’ll be less margin for error when you’ve all ready got a permanent eye-liner guideline to follow.  Just trace it over and build it up.

Then when you want to dial it back down, you’re all ready there!  And if you’re having a special sleepover, you can go ahead and take it off – your evening eye make-up that is – assured that when morning comes, you’ll look fresh and gorgeous. No caked smudges or black flakes of make-up around your eyes. And you won’t look like your face is missing in action either.
