Ditch the Expensive Salon Trips and Go for Permanently Perfect Eyebrows

Did you ever think about just how much a trip to the salon really costs you?  If you’re like many women, you need to visit your salon at least bi-monthly to maintain well groomed brows.  Eyebrow shaping and/or waxing can range anywhere from $8 to $45 per visit on average.  Many women need to visit their salon at least bi-monthly to maintain well groomed, well arched brows.  That adds a recurring cost of anywhere from $16-$90 on average to your monthly budget.

Even if your waxing salon is fairly close to home, you will still usually need to drive a few miles and from the salon each time you go.  With gas prices always increasing, the cost of your trip is always increasing as well.  You can add at least three to ten dollars to every salon trip just for gas alone, but luckily there is an easier way!

You can get perfectly arched brows without going to the see your waxer more than you probably see most of your family members!  Permanent makeup offers the perfect solution.  Having permanent brows drawn on once can save you hundreds and even thousands of dollars in trips to the salon over the course of your life time and you’ll never have to worry about your eyebrow waxer or shaper making a mistake!  Experts at the Melany Whitney Center for Permanent Cosmetics are not only eyebrow experts, but also Asian eye experts as well, so no matter what your ethnicity, you’ll be sure to love your new look.

Sofia Vergara’s Emmy Makeup Look

Last month’s Emmy award ceremony was just teeming with stars looking gorgeous, yet even while surrounded by so many beauties, Sofia Vergara stood out in the crowd.  The Modern Family starlet’s healthy glow that evening can be credited in part to her great genes, but an enormous acceptance speech “shout out” is also owed to her expertly applied makeup.

If you would like to get Sofia Vergara’s 2011 Emmy look (and who wouldn’t?), read on to get the details on exactly how this classic, yet flirty, was achieved.  Vergara’s makeup artist told Star Weekly that her Emmy evening gown was the inspiration for the look.  “We rarely do a colorful lip on Sofia – it is usually a strong eye instead,” she said.  Vergara’s makeup artist chose a bright coral lip color to make the look a bit playful and different than usual.  Sofia’s eyes were kept subtle to keep them from competing with the bold lip.  The look was topped off with lots of lashes and a strong brow.

Special attention was admittedly paid to making Sofia’s makeup last all evening.  A great deal of powder was used to set all parts of the look.  In order to look like Sofia at the Emmy’s permanently, luckily, you can simply have colorful permanent lip color, and brows applied.  Consult with an expert Florida permanent makeup artist to get Sofia’s look or any look you desire.

Permanent Makeup – A Celebrated Convenience for Women in the US Navy

This November we proudly celebrate the third anniversary of permanent cosmetic use in the US Navy.  Thanks to a thoughtful dress code update issued in November 2009, permanent makeup is no longer a roadblock for women who want to serve their country while still looking and feeling confident.

Although the Naval dress code previously did not allow women to have cosmetic tattoos, the use of natural looking permanent makeup is now listed as legal within the code and even encouraged.  Naval officers admitted that since permanent procedures were gaining popularity among civilians, they wanted recruits and women already in the navy to be able to enjoy the same benefits without any issue.

However, for the sake of uniformity, as one naval officer explained, fad or trend makeup looks that are tattooed on are not permitted.  As is the navy’s policy with regular cosmetics, looks must be natural and classic.  Women are advised to first ask their chain of command before having new permanent makeup procedures done, but most permanent eyebrow, eyeliner, and lipstick applications are generally approved.

Permanent makeup is actually quite convenient for women in the military as well as any woman with an active and busy lifestyle.  With little room to store regular cosmetics and little time to apply them, permanent cosmetics now provide our nation’s heroes with many benefits.

What is Permanent Makeup?

Permanent makeup, by definition, is a cosmetic technique that employs permanent pigmentation of the dermis as a means of producing makeup like designs.  It can be used for permanent eye lining, eye brow enhancing, lip coloring or lining, and creating the look of eye shadow.  Permanent makeup can also be used to recreate the look of breast nipples after cancer surgery and can create the look of eyebrows for those whose bodies do not grow them naturally.  Permanent makeup relieves the stress of having to apply cosmetics each morning only to have to wash them off hours later.  It can save individuals time and money and can be life changing for chemotherapy patients, scar victims, and those with Alopecia.

Permanent cosmetics date back to the early part of the 20th century when tattooist George Burchett began to develop techniques for permanently applying makeup to enhance his customer’s appearances.  The techniques became very sought after by the 1930’s and have come quite a long way since.

Men and women who want to know more about permanent makeup can contact a New Jersey or New York area permanent makeup expert to set up a consultation.  Everyone has different cosmetic needs.  Why not find out specifically how permanent makeup can help you to live a more stress free, carefree, and confident life?

Protect your Skin and Permanent Cosmetics this Summer

We’ve recently discussed the importance of choosing a sunscreen with both UVA and UVB protection to protect against premature aging and skin cancer.  For those with permanent cosmetics, sunscreen does more than just protect the skin.  Sunscreen keeps permanent makeup looking fresh and prevents fading.

Permanent cosmetics can be damaged by the sun’s rays year-round and summer is a time to be particularly vigilant.  Wearers of permanent cosmetics should always remember to apply sunscreen each morning and re-apply every two to three hours throughout the day.  Men and women who wear permanent makeup should follow this routine to ensure their investment is protected.

In addition to sunscreen, we recommend using Chap Stick Ultra (35 SPF Plus) or Banana Boat in stick form.  These products are great for protecting both lips and eyebrows.  Chap Stick should be applied each morning onto eyebrows, and when in the sun, Chap Stick should also be re-applied every two to three hours.  Chap Stick is easy to use, inexpensively found at the drug store, and will not run into eyes.   Remember to wear sunglasses as well.  This will even protect your permanent eyeliner.  Follow these tips to have fun in the sun this summer without damaging your permanent cosmetics.

The Many Uses of Permanent Makeup

Permanent makeup or cosmetics can be great for making eyes appear larger by way of permanent eyeliner, a use many women know of, but did you know that permanent makeup can be used for a great variety of other reasons?

Permanent Makeup for Lips:

Permanent makeup can be used to create a subtle contour to the lips and can even be used to add color to the lips to bring back their youthful glow or to give the youthful glow they might have never had.

Permanent Makeup for Eyes:

Permanent makeup can not only enhance the eyes with eyeliner that lasts forever, but can also give you the perfectly shaped brows you’ve always hoped for…permanently!  You can also enhance the color of your eyelids with a light shadowy look, keeping you always looking polished and ready to go.

Permanent Makeup for Skin:

Did you know permanent makeup can actually camouflage hypopigmented areas of the skin?  This makes it a great solution for disguising certain scars or spots due to vitiligo.  Permanent makeup can even help to restore the natural look of skin in the nipple or breast areola area after mastectomy.

Permanent makeup or cosmetic tattooing has been improving the lives of women and men since the 1930’s.  Find out how permanent makeup can help to improve your life by contacting New Jersey and New York’s foremost expert on permanent makeup today!

Women Seek Permanent Makeup and Other Solutions Driven Products

A new study, as reported in an April 1st article in Womens Wear Daily, shows that women spent a significant amount more in 2010 on makeup than they did the previous year in 2009.  According to market Judy Galloway, a manager Partner of G-Group, “The consumer is typically interested in brands that solve problems…”

Solution driven collections and niche products such as liquid concealers, eye shadows, and other cosmetics designed with new technologies are becoming a popular choice of both brands and consumers today.  In addition, age old, classic, tried and true products and techniques that are solutions oriented and comprehensively fill women’s needs are the among the biggest survivors in today’s competitive market.

One of those techniques is permanent makeup.  In fact, few things on the market are as solutions driven as permanent makeup. Permanent makeup or permanent cosmetics help women to maintain the look they want and need every day.  Whether it be permanent eyeliner, lip color, or brow color, permanent makeup is understandably becoming a go to solution for women in New York, New Jersey, and all over the world.  Permanent makeup is the smart solution for alopecia, tired looking eyes, pale colored lips, lack of time to spend on makeup application, and even can be the solution for women seeking to replace breast nipples after mastectomy.

Can You Tell the Difference Between Day and Evening Makeup These Days?

As women, we hear an awful lot about day wear and evening wear, day makeup and evening makeup.  Although these looks may seem simple to decipher, as times change and trends vary, lines can sometimes become blurred between makeup that should be worn during the day and makeup that should be worn during the evening.

For instance, in our last post, we discussed how bright and bold eye colors are popular for Spring and Summer 2011.  This look can be seen on the runway and has been seen on the celebrities off of the runway during both day and evening.

In sticking with tradition, although the bright and bold makeup look is a fun one to experiment with while trending, it isn’t one that usually works for most women during the day.  Lifestyles such as working with co-workers office make it not ideal due to its distracting nature.

Usually, during the day, you’ll want to try a look that is more natural and subtle.  This is not only because it is more lifestyle appropriate for most women, but also because lighting during the day can be more harsh and unflattering to bold makeup looks.  Instead, try to keep the bright and bold looks, dramatic smoky eyes, and heavier makeup for evening when lighting is often more flattering.

With permanent makeup you can get a look for everyday that is natural and subtle.  Whenever the occasion calls for more drama, simply put on a bit more mascara or eye shadow over the beautiful natural permanent makeup look you already have and you’ll be ready to go.
